Samantha Grace LaMont

Weaver, painter, and teacher living in Portland, Oregon. Ritual art and the practice of being through guided meditations and flower explorations. Experimenting with colors, shapes, textures and symbology; through the use of yarn, paint and wood.  Her work is often spiritual and abstractly explores themes of expanded consciousness and mysticism.

Many of her materials are up-cycled. Yarn is often found through estate sales and other second hand sources. The oak wood used in all the most recent tapestries is re-purposed from old oak wine casks that have been broken down and cut to size.  Giving new life to old or forgotten materials gives her work a dimension that may not be seen but is definitely felt.
